A rigorous on the water testing programme has allowed VSPARS to be validated at full scale. Novel techniques allowed the high accuracy predictions found in earlier wind tunnel validation studies to be confirmed at full scale. High quality lens calibration and advanced perspective correction algorithms proved to behave as expected confirming VSPARS arrival as a high accuracy real time sail and rig vision system. The trials, attended by VSPARS directors David Le Pelley and Owen Modral were deemed a great success and a springboard to develop the system further towards full commercialisation.
